Stanhope includes a sundeck, saltwater pool, and dog park that create distinct outdoor spaces in our NSCU off-campus housing community for relaxing, swimming, and spending time outside with friends or pets. The pool deck and lounge areas are arranged as one connected zone, with grilling and entertainment features placed nearby so the space works for both quick breaks between classes and longer weekend hangouts.

Sundeck Layout, Seating, and Grilling Areas
Lounge seating is arranged in grouped sections rather than spread far apart. This keeps conversation easy and gives multiple small groups space to settle in at the same time. A fire pit sits within the seating zone, creating a focal point when temperatures drop. The grilling area is positioned nearby, so residents can cook without stepping away from the main hangout space. An outdoor television is mounted within view of the seating and pool area, making it easy to watch games, events, or streaming content from several spots across the deck.
Saltwater Pool and Deck
The saltwater pool is the central point of the outdoor space. Instead of a traditional chlorine-heavy setup, the water uses salt filtration, which tends to feel softer on skin and eyes while functioning like a standard pool. For students spending time outside during Raleigh’s warmer months, that difference can become noticeable with regular use throughout the semester.
The surrounding deck provides room to walk, sit, or relax near the water. Because the pool and sundeck operate as one connected area, residents can easily swim, grill, and lounge without changing locations or leaving our NCSU student apartments. During busy stretches of the semester, it offers a convenient way to recharge close to home. On weekends, the space shifts into a gathering spot where roommates and friends meet before heading out in Raleigh or after wrapping up a long week of classes at NC State.
Dog Park
The dog park provides a designated outdoor area for pets within the property. It offers open space for dogs to run and play, making quick breaks easier during busy days. The space gives dogs a consistent place for daily exercise without relying on nearby public parks.
